Tampa Bay Fishing and Charlotte Harbor Fishing

Tampa Bay fishing - Even though the skylines of Tampa and St. Petersburg are visible on the horizon, the fishing is wild and wonderful. Tampa Bay is the largest estuary in Florida and offers the same type of fishing found in Charlotte Harbor. Fish the flats and mangrove shorelines of Terra Ceia, Miguel and Joe Bays. Further to the north are Bishop Harbor and Cockroach Bay.

A full day trip to the backcountry of world famous Charlotte Harbor is like ãstepping back in timeä. Itâs miles of mangrove shorelines, shallow grass flats, sand and oyster bars are home to snook, trout, redfish, tarpon and more. You will also marvel in the wildlife that is abundant there- white pelicans, herons, egrets, ospreys, dolphins and manatees call the area home. Since the area is mostly very shallow, it is accessible only by shallow draft flats boats and wading the flats and sight fishing is also a good option.

Each of these areas is about 40 miles from Sarasota, so we trailer to these areas and launch close to the area that we will fish. Due to the distance, these are full day trips only.

SARASOTA FISHING
BAY / BACK COUNTRY

Sarasota Fishing in its Bay and backcountry areas offers a variety of opportunities. Its unique combination of grass flats, mangrove shorelines, creek, canals and passes make it a good year-around fishing area. The lush grass flats and mangrove shorelines of the North Sarasota Bay offer great fishing for snook, trout and redfish. Three passes-Longboat Pass, New Pass and Big Pass- flush the bay and provide seasonal action for pompano, bluefish, sheepshead, jack crevalle and ladyfish. Little Sarasota Bay provides a haven for many species of fish during the winter and spring months. Oyster bars, docks and creeks make it a great area for snook, trout, ladyfish, redfish, flounder or sheepshead during cooler weather. Sarasota Bay is a beautiful bay that is easy to fish due to many different types of habitat.
